When it comes to sweets, home baking doesn’t get much cozier or simpler than brownies and chocolate chip cookies. Yes, both desserts naturally attract their own diehards, but who says you can’t have the best of each universe all in one) Or the brookie, a delicious blend of dense and fudgy brownie AND chewy chocolate chip cookie. This indulgent slice has captured the hearts of sweet tooths everywhere and offers a fresh take in combining your double-threat.
The Origin of Brookie Recipe: Fusion of Brownies and Chocolate Chip Cookies
As for the brookie, it became a darling of bakeries and home kitchens at some point over its past 20 years. Its recent surge in popularity once again sounds a conversation about taste, texture and new shapes through geometry. That with the beginning of bread renewal also points out at less traditional shape-making that is not related to ordinary baking traditionosciennes de bakerging traditions…. Others say it is the convenience, why choose one when you can treat yourself to both in an ideal square known as a brookie? At its most basic, a brookie is just brownie batter poured over chocolate chip cookie dough in the oven — though you can get pretty creative with it.
A Perfect Meld of Taste and Crunch
And brookies have this wonderful dichotomy of taste and texture that matches the conflicting tendencies eye to crust-like flaking on liking turnover. A thick brownie layer so perfectly fudgy it melts in your mouth, and a similarly thick chocolate chip cookie with bits of semi-sweet milk running all throughout. Combined this gives a good flavor, because it equals out with every bite you chew.
All The Good Things And Best Of AllThere is one other place where the dual nature of being all things comes home with us. This weekend, I spent several hours preparing brookies for my loved ones. Depending on your desired level of light and darkness you could make the brownie part with dark chocolate for extreme flavour, or milk-chocolate if a sweeter slant appeals. Just as the ice cream base is neutral, so too can you create any cookie dough by combining mix-ins of your choice (nuts and caramel bits for this are also good… heck why not make these with peanut butter chips!) Therefore, is it any wonder that a dessert of this kind even …..cant resist for another sweet afternoon!

1/2 cup ( 1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a nine by nine inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Make the Brownie Layer:
Add the butter to a medium saucepan set over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs & vanilla
Stir in cocoa, flour, salt and baking powder until just blended. Spread the batter as evenly in to pan
Prepare the Cookie Layer:
Oven to 375°Place softened butter into large bowl and mix until smoothShould be room temp! add sugar(brown&granulated). Beat in the egg and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour (spooned into dry measure cups and leveled), baking soda, an salt. Drop by teaspoon into the hot oil and fry until golden on both sides. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Assemble the Brookies:
Pour the cookie dough over it evenly or else spread gently with spatula. If it doesn’t cover all your brownies do not worry because as the cake bakes, that will happen automatically.
Bake: Put the dish into your oven, bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with just a few moist crumbs. Be careful not to overbake!
Cool and Serve: Cool the brookies in pan for 15 or more mins prior to cutting it into squares. Allow to completely cool for firmer bites or serve warm.
Great Alternatives to Brookie
The original brookie is a tasty dessert, but have fun with it and make the ultimate cookie brownie. A couple of creative options:
A Brookie variation with nuts — Sprinkle some chopped in one layer or both, for a nutty brookie (the brownie part pairs especially well with walnuts / pecans and the cookie just screams macadamia)!
Inside Out Brookies — scoop brownie layer, then cookie dough; add peanut butter or Nutella dollop.
For the fall or winter holidays, use pumpkin puree in the brownie layer and a teaspoon of peppermint extract wherever it might work to get into that holiday spirit.
